HRC SF Bay Steering Committee Members attend CA lobby day

On Tuesday February 17th, SF Bay Area Steering Committee members attended the largest LGBT lobby day in California's history.We lobbied to show support for passage of the two resolutions before the legislature authored by Senator Mark Leno and Assemblymember Tom Ammiano. These resolutions  will make it the policy of the California Legislature that Prop 8 and any future measures like it (resolutions that seek to eliminate fundamental rights from a protected group of Californians) are wrong and should be considered invalid revisions of the Constitution.

We were joined by LGBT individuals and allies. Civil rights leader Dolores Huerta and NCLR Legal Director Shannon Minter, both testified in support of the measure at the Assembly Judiciary committee hearing.  The resolution passed by a 7 to 3 vote and now will move to the Assembly floor for a vote by the entire body. The Senate Judiciary committee is expected to soon take up the Senate resolution.
